expected - not garbage. see - orange-yellow garbage.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

The game performs SIGNAL in the GIF and then performs another SIGNAL before
the first is processed. GS manual claims that GS should halt in these
situations. If I'm not mistaken, PCSX2 doesn't. Might be mistaken, though.

Yeah this is a shortcoming of our current GIFdma implementation, and won't be easy to
fix correctly. Noted for future reference as a potential testbed for correct SIGNAL implementations, when that feature's time comes to pass. :)

Still seeing this issue as of latest version available to date. See this issue hasn't been updated in a over two years...is there any plans for this to be addressed? Could this compatibility be adjusted on the site to reflect the slight incompatibility for this game? Perhaps toggling it to 'in-game'.

Seriously, This game runs perfectly on my pc, but it becomes counter-intuitive when I cant use my inventory, I would be interested to know what knowledge is required to fix it, maybe I could take a stab at it.
